GENESIS PROJECT
ROCKEFELLER CENTER
NEW YORK, NEW YORK

The project involved the design of a new broadcast operations center which included a 20,000 SF equipment room, six control rooms, edit rooms, tape storage, and mechanical/electrical rooms. This project had a limited floor to floor height of 10 FT which we were able to achieve data center quality cooling and humidity with proper location of A/C units and minimum overhead distribution.

Mechanical system design included 400 tons of air conditioning with 48 floor mounted chilled water units with 100% stand by capacity. Humidification was provided for all technical areas. Ductwork and equipment specifications were designed for NC 20-30 acoustical rating for control rooms and edit rooms. The A/C unit controls were factory equipped with Andover DDC controls to be fully compatible with the building control systems.

Electrical system design included a three module (400 kW each) 1200 kW redundant UPS system with 15-minute battery backup, redundant feeders and circuiting for each equipment rack, new electric service for HVAC  equipment, technical grounding, smoke detection system, public address system, and remote monitoring system.
