FACILITIES MASTER PLAN
OLD WESTBURY, NEW YORK

Goody Clancy along with L&J worked with SUNY College at Old Westbury – a growing Long Island institution of approximately 4,500 students – and the State University Construction Fund (SUCF) to develop a Facilities Master Plan that will drive capital investments and provide a framework for future development at the campus.

The Facilities Master Plan provided a vision and plan for the future of the SUNY College at Old Westbury campus. The plan links mission to master plan, identifying the highest priority renovation and expansion initiatives needed to support this growing institution in an era of scarce resources. Each initiative is sited to leverage recent investments, and to help reinforce a new central open space that will soon serve as the heart of the campus.

Services included examining existing conditions of the MEP systems, reviewing available material (i.e., previous reports and survey forms) regarding the physical condition of the campus facilities and infrastructure, and meeting with SUNY Maritime’s staff to discuss infrastructure conditions and needs.  A report was prepared outlining preliminary assessment of the existing MEP systems.

During the design concept alternatives phase, L&J developed three concept alternatives for the 10 year Facilities Master Plan.  Included in these alternatives are facilities renovations, building additions and new buildings with consideration for sustainable design and phasing.  Once the alternative or hybrid alternative was selected, the final recommended alternative was fully developed.  The final selected alternative included phasing and project budget.
