9/11 EMERGENCY TRANSMISSION
After the tragic events of 9/11, L&J provided engineering services to move broadcast facilities for area broadcasters on an emergency basis to Alpine Towers. They also provided the emergency electrical design for the interim broadcast tower in Alpine, NJ, to provide service to local New York City broadcasters for MTVA stations WPIX, WABC, WNET and WPLJ. The “fast-track” design was essential to provide immediate need for broadcasters to reach affected New York City metropolitan markets after the September 11th tragedy.
From Alpine Towers, L&J moved these broadcasters to the top of the Empire State Building to provide interim and long term electrical power to supply all the needs of six of the MTVA stations for continuous and permanent broadcasts. They also provided electrical engineering service for the project design of the NBC Transmitter Room at the Empire State Building.
