Familiarity with Restoration and Resiliency Projects

Due to our experience with numerous Hurricane Sandy related restoration and resiliency projects, we understand the technical issues, the options and alternatives, and the approach to determine recommendations that are suitable for each project. We are familiar with the Design Flood Elevation (DFE) and its effect on the design of the mechanical/electrical systems. We also understand the procedures and preparation of options along with a Cost Benefit Analysis for these project types.

Lakhani & Jordan provided mechanical, electrical, plumbing and fire protection engineering services for the following projects with FEMA involvement:

Coler Hospital Auditorium & Infrastructure Upgrades: Lakhani & Jordan provided engineering services to Coler Hospital. The project involved the renovation of the hospital, repairing the damages incurred during Hurricane Sandy, reconstruction of the existing auditorium, and protecting the hospital from future natural disasters.

Coney Island Hospital Boiler Plant Replacement & Emergency Hurricane Sandy Services: Lakhani & Jordan provided complete Engineering, Architectural, Structural and Cost Estimating Services and worked with SourceOne for New York Power Authority and FEMA Reimbursement.

NYCHA Hurricane Sandy related assignments at Metro North Plaza, Rangel Houses, East River Houses, Redfern Houses, Ocean Bay Apartments (Oceanside), Ocean Bay Apartments (Bayside), Coney Island Site 8, O’Dwyer Gardens & Surfside Gardens. Lakhani & Jordan provided engineering services for these Housing projects which included FEMA Reimbursement cost estimates for three options. L&J has provided services to NYCHA for Category I, II, III & IV projects. We have provided engineering services for the following projects: Emergency Hurricane Sandy Assessment Reports & Due Diligence Studies for Rangel Houses, Metro North Houses, and East River Houses; Hurricane Sandy Capital Improvement Projects at Redfern Houses and Ocean Bay Apartments (Oceanside); and Sandy Resiliency & Renewal Programs for Ocean Bay Apartments (Bayside), Coney Island Site 8, O’Dwyer Gardens & Surfside Gardens.

American International Group buildings at 175 Water Street, 180 Maiden Lane and 163 Front Street: Lakhani & Jordan provided emergency electrical engineering services for the electrical power restoration of all three buildings damaged due to Hurricane Sandy.

Hudson River Park Trust Piers 40 and 84: Lakhani & Jordan provided emergency plumbing and electrical engineering services for all structures affected by Hurricane Sandy.
