NETWORK ORIGINATION CENTER & POST PRODUCTION CENTER
JERSEY CITY, NEW JERSEY

The Network Origination Center & Post Production Center, approximately 50,000 SF, consisted of a 20,000 SF network origination center (transmission center) and post production studio that is operational 24 hours, 20,000 SF of support spaces, and a 10,000 SF media library.

Mechanical system design included a 350-ton cooling tower plant, and four custom-built packaged air handling units supplementing two existing systems.  The design provides redundancy for equipment and systems supporting the technical areas; and humidification for all technical areas and library.  The mechanical systems were designed to provide NC 20-25 acoustical rating for the various technical areas.  A complete DDC automation system monitors the physical plant.

Electrical system design configuration included a 600 KVA UPS with maintenance bypass and 30-minute battery backup for the entire technical load.  A 1250 KW emergency generator serves the technical load as well as the air conditioning for the technical areas.  The electrical systems also included a new 2,000 amp service to the floor.  A complete grounding system was provided for the broadcast equipment.

Fire detection system design included a dry sprinkler system for the technical areas and a wet sprinkler system for the non-technical areas.  There are three levels of smoke detection: below the raised floor, at the ceiling level and above the ceiling level, all with a state-of-the-art addressable system.
