CAMPUS CAPITAL PLAN & CAMPUS MASTER PLAN
ALBANY, NEW YORK

The Campus Capital Plan was based on a space utilization study in which five-year goals were assessed and measured with current space availability throughout the campus.  L&J worked closely with EEK and educational planners to review comprehensive space allocation, budget requirements and other considerations in the University at Albany’s attempt to accurately provide space requirements to a wide variety of students with varied interests and needs.  The five-year Campus Capital Plan included a list of capital projects to be implemented over the next five years based on campus, SUNY, SUCF, and Division of Budget priorities.

The three principal goals of the capital planning involved the following:

  1. Assisting SUNY Albany in the review of capital projects and evaluation of facilities’ conditions and then to develop a prioritized project request list for the SUCF Office of Capital Planning and Programming
  2. Establishing a five-year Campus Capital Plan of renovation and maintenance projects that would account for operating needs, plant renewal issues and space surges or limitations caused by building renovations
  3. Reviewing program studies for specific proposed campus projects.

The Campus Master Plan involved three campuses and 4 million SF.  L&J’s services included thorough investigations of the existing mechanical and electrical systems, probing, air measurements and condition assessments. Recommendations were made for upgrade of the existing systems and addition of new mechanical and electrical systems to comply with the new master plan.
