NORTH BUILDING LAB RENOVATIONS (8TH & 14TH FLOOR)
NEW YORK, NEW YORK

The project involved the renovation of two science labs at Hunter College North Building.  The program consists of the following: renovation of an existing Organic Chemistry Lab (Rooms 1405 and 1406) and design of a new Medical Lab Science Research Facility (Room 820 and suites 820A, 820B, 829BB, 820C, 820D, 820E, 820F, 820G).  The existing facilities are completely outdated and cannot serve the current needs of the student population and the science departments.

The eighth floor laboratory, which is approximately 1,600 SF, will be a Medical Science Research Lab with a separate Tissue Culture and Microscopy Room. The renovation includes two independent air conditioning units as well as a separate fume hood exhaust system.

The second laboratory located on the 14th floor measures approximately 900 SF and will be used for Organic Chemistry. This laboratory also contains two independent air conditioning units and a separate exhaust system for three low flow high performance fume hoods.

MEP system design included upgrading existing HVAC system, plumbing and sprinkler, electrical lighting, power and extension of existing air, gas, nitrogen, vacuum, acid waste, and fire alarm systems.
